Hello all. I am really new to this. I am going with what I have for now. Its a bit slow in the going due to where I am located right now.
What in the world is a GEDCOM?
How do I go about finding people who have been gone for a while?
and can I trace someone forward?

Hi Val
1. A GEDCOM is a file used by Family tree programs to transfer Data from one Tree program to another. Download free from The Church of the latter day saints Website (See Links)
2. and 3.
Its always best to start with what you know and work backwards If possable talk to the oldest people in your family. try all the free sites Just enter a name and see what comes up (See Links)
